Coaching Credentials: TCU's Gary Patterson and Boise State's Chris Petersen
There are no two hotter coaching names in the college football world right now than Texan Christian University’s Gary Patterson and Boise State’s Chris Petersen.
The two men have led their respective programs to amazing success since taking over, transcending the limits of coaching at a Non-BCS school.
The two coaches, who oddly enough were both part of the same UC Davis team back in the mid 80s, Patterson as an assistant and Petersen as a quarterback, have both worked their way up through the ranks to reach the pinnacle of success at their so called “small schools.”
Their two teams have met in the postseason the last two years with each coming away with a victory—Boise State last year in the Fiesta Bowl and TCU in the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl. Who knows, if all breaks right this season, maybe we could see both face off in the National Championship Game to settle the tiebreaker.
Both coaches are likely to be coveted targets for BCS schools who’ll be looking to fill coaching vacancies at the end of the season, but it’s still unknown whether either will want to leave the winning situation they're in right now in order to build up a struggling BCS program.
Let’s take a look at both of their recent resumes which show that Patterson and Petersen are without a doubt two of the finest and most consistently successful coaches we have in the college game today.
