Middle School Trick Play Video: You've Got To See It To Believe It
By now, I'm sure many of you have heard about the fantastic middle school trick-play video that's been making the Internet rounds.
We've got the clip here, and we're breaking it down to show you just what happened in one of the craziest plays in recent football memory. We'll tell you just what Driscoll did and why it was so effective.
The Clip
1 of 2Driscoll Middle School is located in Corpus Christi, Texas. On the play, the center simply stands up and hands the ball to the quarterback, who walks slowly through the defensive line
Thinking the play is dead, the defense lets him through, but once he's into the secondary, the quarterback is off like a shot, running until he gets to the end zone.
Why'd It Work?
2 of 2
Like most trick plays, this one's all about deception. By standing up and handing the ball to the quarterback, the center makes the defense think the play has been blown dead. By not running through the defense, the quarterback furthers the charade, making everyone think that he's just going to hand the ball to the umpire.
But, of course, he doesn't and takes off downfield. Despite the head start on the run, the quarterback is nearly caught by No. 19, the only defensive player who seemed to realize that the play was happening.
All in all, it's one of the better trick plays in recent memory.
