College Football Pick'em: Week One's 10 Best Games
Itās that time of year again. College football begins in just a few days. (Pause for cheering.) With that comes bands, mascots, and team colors everywhere.
It means that it's time to begin the weekly college football pickāem. Each week I will pick the winners of the 10 games that look to be the most interesting. I will also keep track of my record on picks. Feel free to leave comments and pick with me. Without further words, here are your picks for Week One of the 2008 season.
No. 20 Illinois at No. 6 Missouri
Winner: Missouri. The Tigers get the season off on the right foot with a big win in the opener. *Game of the Week*
No. 3 USC at Virginia
Winner: USC. The Trojans are just too much for the Cavs to handle in the opener.
Hawaii at No. 5 Florida
Winner: Florida. Too bad this isnāt the Hawaii team from last year. That squad might have put up a couple of scores.
No. 24 Alabama at No. 9 Clemson
Winner: Clemson. Clemson proves the doubters wrong and lives up to its big billing.
No. 17 Virginia Tech at East Carolina
Winner: VT. ECU will put up a good fight, but the result will be the same as it was to open last season.
No. 18 Tennessee at UCLA
Winner: Tennessee, the overlooked Vols pick up a big win on the West Coast.
No. 21 Oregon at Washington
Winner: Oregon. The Ducks' starter goes down with a knee injury, but they still roll over the Huskies.
NC State at South Carolina
Winner: South Carolina. The old ball coach has the Gamecocks ready for this one, but mistakes will make it close.
Fresno State at Rutgers
Winner: Fresno State. The Bulldogs get a big win to begin their quest for the BCS.
Utah at Michigan
Winner: Utah. The Wolverines begin the season in the same way as the last. With a loss at the Big House, the Rodriguez reign gets off to a bad start.
There you have it, the first week's picks are in the book. Once again, feel free to comment and post your own picks.
