Chris Rainey: For Urban Meyer, Florida Gators It is Time for Zero Tolerance

Enough already. It is time to get serious with all the arrests for the Gator football program. I know Urban Meyer is tough on them already, but whatever he's been doing, it is not working.

Meyer needs to sit his team down and say that he has had it. One more arrest, one more, I don't care if it's jaywalking, you will be off this team permanently. No second chances. No working your way back on. No giving up your scholarship and walking on. You are OFF!

This has gotten beyond ridiculous. It's a black eye.

It's a black eye on the school, on the team, on its fan base and on its alumni. It has got to stop. It has got to stop NOW!

Chris Rainey, hit the road. We don't want your kind around here. No more Mr. Nice Guy. You threaten to kill somebody? Goodbye.

I don't care if the Gators lose every stinking game for the rest of our lives. I would rather lose than win with a bunch of thugs. These guys don't have enough brains to warrant even going to college, much less on a full ride. Get them out of here. If Meyer doesn't have the stomach for it, then get someone who does.

Sorry to be angry, but I'm tired of this crap.

I'm tired of Florida State fans, Georgia fans, Tennessee fans and Alabama fans, NONE of which have any room to say anything, talking about us like we run a street gang in cleats.

Winning football games is just not this important. Not when you have players threatening to kill their girlfriends. God forbid one day one of them actually does it. What will we say then?

The only way to combat this is to adopt a zero tolerance policy.

And also, run away from any recruit with a questionable past. You recruit these guys. You visit their homes. You talk to their friends and neighbors. If you get a funny feeling, never mind the guy runs a 4.2 40. Walk away. Let Tennessee have him.
