Here it is Monday night and I am going to do next weeks menu of games already. If you are like me you watched as much football as possible this weekend. All together I saw 55 of the 120 FBS teams play from Thursday to Monday. Next weekend I will see far less due to my traveling to watch Oregon at Tennessee. I will still try to see what I can before and after the game and give my DVR some work too.

Before I start all I want to say is, if all games played on a Monday were like the two I saw tonight, I demand more Monday games.

Here is what I would try to watch if I were home this weekend though.

Thursday Sept 9

Central Michigan at Temple

Although it appears Central Michigan could be looking at some rebuilding this season, I wouldn’t entirely count them out of the MAC title hunt. And Temple has been everyone’s darling to win the conference this season. Could be a preview of the MAC title game.

Auburn at Miss State

SEC West game. One of a few conference games being played this week. I saw Auburn have early trouble with Arkansas State, but Mississippi State had no problem with Memphis.

Friday Sept 10

West Virginia at Marshall

This is supposed to be like some sort of in state rivalry but has Marshall actually ever won?

Houston at UTEP

I fully expected this one to be a Conference USA West decider but if Buckram is back for UTEP, maybe not so much.

Saturday Sept 11

Hawaii at Army

Could a team travel any farther that Hawaii has to in order to play this game? It is being played at 12pm Eastern which makes this one about 7 am Hawaii time. Yeah that seems fair.

Georgia at South Carolina

These two haven’t been getting a whole lot of preseason press but this early game could go quite a ways in deciding the SEC East.

South Florida at Florida

It wasn’t that long ago that this game would be considered laughable. But in recent years South Florida has been trying to establish itself as another Florida team that you have to take seriously. They beat Florida State last year but came up short with Miami. Now they get a shot at the Gators.

Colorado at California

Pac 12 conference game… oh wait that’s a couple years away still. This will either be a “welcome to the Pac hope you survive” or a “look out Pac here we come” type of thing.

Michigan at Notre Dame

After the debuts these two teams made this past weekend, this game has suddenly become one of the must see games of the week.

Florida State at Oklahoma

A top 20 game probably higher, I wouldn’t doubt FSU moves up a couple spots this week. After Oklahoma’s lack luster game with Utah State, I hope it will be as good as the team names would make me think it will be.

Iowa State at Iowa

Iowa State has become a fairly decent team over the last couple seasons going from a two win team to a seven win team with a bowl win. Iowa may suddenly find itself down their starting QB. (I haven’t seen an injury update)

Miami at Ohio State

I fully expect this game to be something of a track meet with a score total in the 50s or 60s. Its not that I don’t like either teams defense, just I think both offenses are that good. Don’t blink, you might miss something.

BYU at Air Force

The Mountain West is usually regarded as BYU, TCU and Utah. Air Force has been the constant number four and a few times even higher. This could be a good year for Air Force to sneak in to a three spot. Maybe higher.

Troy at Oklahoma State

The year was 2007. The score was 41-23. The winner was Troy. The difference was the game was at Troy. The last time Troy went to Oklahoma State they weren’t so lucky.

Wyoming at Texas

The game will be played with heavy hearts all around. It might not be much of a game but couldn’t leave it off the list. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Wyoming football family and the family of Ruben Narcisse. Also to the teammates who are still in the hospital as we wait to see how things turn out with them.

Penn State at Alabama

Another match up of top ranked teams. I think this has been one of the most highly anticipated out of conference match ups of the year.

Oregon at Tennessee

These two teams combined to beat their opening opponents 122-0. I wouldn’t expect anything similar for either team this week.

Stanford at UCLA

Early Pac-10 tilt which should give a good indication of where these two are and where they fall in that convoluted conference race where, in the media poll, seven schools received a first place vote including one each for these two.
