Best College Football Uniforms: Ranking the Coolest 15 of 2010
What are the best looking uniforms of the 2010 college football season?
I have a list for you. But first let me state something that I have said over and over again...
College football is this country's version of Euro-league soccer.
We have hooligans, beautiful women, and crazy fans.
I once saw two grandfathers fighting at a gas station over their alma maters (SEC rivals, in case you were wondering).
So I'm sure even this list will bring out the passion.
But here we go anyway...
15. LSU Tigers
1 of 15
I remember watching LSU a couple of years ago as they entered for home games and thinking, man I'd hate to have to bring my team into that place.
They beat you and then they offer to take you to the French Quarter and party with you.
So at least that's cool.
14. Oklahoma Sooners
2 of 15
It was close between the Sooners and the Cornhuskers.
But I think the shine off the OU helmet sealed it.
It's like they polish those things at halftime.
13. Oregon Ducks
3 of 15
Variety is key here.
You never know what Nike and the Ducks are going to wear.
They might even change it up at halftime.
What's your favorite?
Pick one, they are like Baskin Robbins.
12. Hawaii Warriors
4 of 15
Once they dropped the "Rainbow Warriors" stuff and went with the clean uniforms, they became major, in my book.
Then they started doing the Haka Warrior Chant and became a top 15.
11. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
5 of 15
Just because they haven't won any BCS games lately doesn't mean that the great looking golden dome is tarnished.
Knute Rockne would haunt me if I didn't get them on here.
10. Florida Gators
6 of 15
You could see the helmet from a mile away.
I doubt you could throw on the uniform and not do the Gator chomp.
I think it's an involuntary reflex.
9. Penn State Nittany Lions
7 of 15
It's probably because of how simple it looks to put together. A little blue. A little white.
You would think they wouldn't stand out but they do.
Once you see that uniform, you know you are in for a three yards and a cloud of dust type afternoon.
And lots of soreness the next day.
Classic.
7. UCLA Bruins
8 of 15
Powder blue and gold?
Sounds like something a gentleman of leisure might wear as he takes sips of purple drank.
But these guys pull it off.
8. Michigan Wolverines
9 of 15
They have been much maligned as of late, but it doesn't diminish those great uniforms.
I love the helmets, even though I'm not really sure what that design is.
I heard them described as having a "winged" design on the helmet.
Sure!
6. Florida State Seminoles
10 of 15
It's gonna look weird not seeing Coach Bowden on the sidelines, but after a few "War Chants," things will go back to normal.
5. Ohio State Buckeyes
11 of 15
I bet they get some recruits there just to wear the silver helmet covered with buckeye leaf decals.
The only problem is, what do you tell your folks when they ask how come you don't have any stickers on your helmet?
4. Texas Longhorns
12 of 15
I was tempted to put Baylor here. I mean, those are some cool looking uniforms.
But not as cool as those darn Longhorns.
When is the last time you wore burnt orange anything?
3. Yale Bulldogs
13 of 15
It was close between the Bulldogs and Harvard.
But if you are talking tradition and a classic look...
The the Y's get the vote.
2. Alabama Crimson Tide
14 of 15
The word is that Coach "Bear" Bryant designed the helmet.
Makes sense because you feel like you are playing a whole lot of tradition when the Tide comes to town.
1. USC Trojans
15 of 15
Yeah, I'm a homer.
But even USC haters came to watch them play when they faced their team.
The song girls...
"Traveler" the white horse... the Trojan on top of Traveler... the victory chant... the uniforms...
The song girls...
All a major part of the game we love.
College football is back, folks!
