Why Is Everyone Picking PSU to Win 9 or More?

All season predictions I've seen have 9-3 or 10-2. I think you all are sadly writing checks this team cannot cash. There has to be two very important keys to this team winning 9 or 10 games. That is if we get a miracle and get solid and consistent QB play, along with replacing the key defensive players lost last season.

If there is one person who can honestly tell you they trust Newsome, Jones, or Bolden, then you should get them mentally checked. From reports I have come across, Bolden looks the best of the 3. Now, this would be very unlike Joe to pick a freshman starter at QB. If he goes bold and picks Bolden, maybe we'll see something special.

Kevin Newsome is not good enough. Paul Jones outplayed him in the spring game when Kevin had 1 more year of experience. Even McGloin outplayed Newsome for large stretches of that game. Hopefully Robert Bolden will get his chance at some point this season.

Now, I'm not going to bore you with another PSU QB debate article. This teams' senior leadership was very underestimated last year. Losing Darryl Clark is going to be huge as we watch our team struggle to complete passes vs Youngstown State.

The talent on this team is very high. Running back is loaded, Offensive line has experience, and the Wide receiver situation is looking close to 2008. Defensively, we lost Lee, Odrick, Hull, Bowman, and AJ Wallace (who I wasn't a fan of). So the entire Linebacker core has to be replaced.

Sure we are Linebacker U, but all players need game time and experience. None of the remaining players have much of that. Anyone who wants to convince me Bani Gbadyu is going to step up, don't make me laugh. He's not good enough.

How do you expect us to stop teams? Especially offensively loaded teams like Bama, Ohio State, and even Michigan's offense has a lot of talent. Our three major road games @ Bama, @ Iowa, and @ Ohio State will ensure we don't win 10 games.

I also predict we probably will lose a game or two at home that we should not have either. I don't see this team being in the BCS bowl rankings all season. They can prove me wrong, and I hope we do. But the loss of senior leadership, to go along with the unproven QB situation shows me we are in for a long season.

The pros on this team are obviously players like Royster, Moye, Duke, Zug, the O line, Crawford, Lattimore, Lynn, Astorino, and hopefully Hodges can over take the very slow Sukay.

I do not think we will go 4-8, or 5-7. But to pick 9 wins on a team that has to replace the core of it's defense, and Darryl Clark is INSANE in my opinion. My prediction: 7-5, no way we win the three away games, I also predict we lose to Michigan at home, and another weird game we had no business losing.

Thanks for the read, hopefully my next article has more optimism fans. I'll be at Beaver Stadium every home game, cheering on my alumni, and hopefully seeing a great season. But unlike a lot of you, I'm not optimistic.
