Mizzou's clutchitude

Here's what he had to say about them:

Missouri QB Chase Daniel -- He's been leading comeback victories since his freshman season, but a big one in a big game could cement his Heisman hopes.

Also included on the list were Graham Harrell, Colt McCoy and Stephen McGee.

I've often wondered how good Chase is in the clutch. He played as well as I've ever seen a quarterback play against Kansas last year and that might have been the biggest game in the program's history but he had a fairly comfortable lead in that one from start to finish. Other than the comeback against Iowa State his freshman season he hasn't really had a game where he's led the Tigers to a come from behind victory (you could arguably include the Iowa State game from his sophomore year).

It'll be interesting to see how he responds if he's put in a two-minute drill scenario with the Tigers trailing and needing an 80-yard drive to keep their National Championship hopes alive. 

If Griffin would have included defensive players then I'd expect Willy-Mo to make the list. I think his three best games last season came in three of our biggest games of the year (Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas). 

Griffin also included Brad Smith on his list of the best clutch players in Big 12 history:

Missouri QB Brad Smith (2002-05) Started early by leading comebacks from his freshman season. He finished with his biggest clutch performance, directing the Tigers back from an early 21-0 lead in a 38-31 victory over South Carolina in the 2005 Independence Bowl.

*Notice that no Kansas players were included on either list. How interesting.
