The 2010 Georgia football schedule is quite favorable on the surface. However, if you look a little deeper there are some potential pitfalls along the way. With this in mind, let’s dissect the Georgia schedule and see what it has in store for the Dawgs.

The first and most obvious element of the 2010 schedule: the Bulldogs play eleven games in a row ending with major rival Auburn. That is certainly not a positive aspect of the schedule. The good news is that Auburn has the same problem with their schedule.

During this eleven game stretch, intensity is broken up by games with Colorado, Vanderbilt, and Idaho State that should give the Dawgs a chance to catch their breath.

There are some trap games on the schedule. One such game to be aware of is on September 25 with Mississippi State. This game will not be a pushover for Georgia and comes one week after a showdown with Arkansas. It will be hard for the Bulldogs to get on an emotional high traveling to Starkville for this game.

Here are the most important games in order

10/30/10

Florida

Jacksonville , Fla.

The game with Florida has been the most important in most years and 2010 is no exception. Georgia will be playing a 3-4 defense this year, and this should help against the Florida option rushing attack. The unfortunate part of this is that Florida looks to be shifting to a more power based rushing attack which is the weakness of 3-4 defenses.

09/11/10

South Carolina

Columbia , S.C.

This game will decide what team is the true contender for the SEC east. The loser has little chance to challenge for the eastern division title in 2010.

11/13/10

Auburn

Auburn , Ala.

If Georgia is still in the hunt this late in the season, this is the game where a stumble could occur. Georgia has had good success in this rivalry game recently, but this will be another test for the new defensive strategy as the Auburn offense is very difficult for 3-4 defenses.
