Could Tobias Singleton Be the Next Marquis Maze at Alabama?
Larry Burton (Panama City Beach, Fla.) When you have a championship team like Alabama, the fans want everything to stay the same, but it can't. So you look for people to be the next so-and-so and hope they can perform to the same standards.
Right now Alabama has a quarterback with a great deep ball and different types of receivers on either side. One is Julio Jones, the muscular, tackle breaking type. The other is Marquis Maze, the don't-blink-or-he's-by-you guy.
While Alabama has a handle on future Julio-type replacements, could the next Marquis Maze be Tobias Singleton?

7 Players Poised for Bounce-Back Years 💪
He's a 6'2" 175 pounder from Madison, Mississippi and attended Madison Central High School. Although fast, he claims to like the physical side of the job too, and can break early attempts to stop him at the line—and he blocks well too.
Supposedly he's been running 4.3 40s in summer camps and showing great hands in the process. A great senior year may have his stars and stock increase from a four to five star receiver.
He definitely has the physical talent to fill Maze's shoes, but will he?
He is high on everybody's list right now, and unlike some players who hate the recruiting process, Singleton is loving it.
He did the Nike Camp at Alabama, and plans on doing camps at Oklahoma, UCLA, and Georgia. He is also looking forward to lots of visits at campuses. Clearly he's enjoying being so heavily courted.
"I'm wide open," Singleton said, when asked about his favorite. "I'm really excited about every team right now. I'm just trying to enjoy the recruiting process."
But he does have a sophomore brother at Ole Miss right now, and a couple of old teammates over there as well.
People close to Tobias, however, say that he's going through the process and do what's right for him and not because of things that other people think.
That's why his list of favorites change and are so varied. From UCLA to Georgia, that's truly coast to coast.
When asked what he brings to the table, he says, "I bring my speed, my quickness, and my hands. I like the spread type offenses, because you have more chances at the ball, but I also like blocking and the physical side of a pro offense."
That doesn't narrow it down much either and he's not about to start naming favorites this early, but he does have good things to say about a few schools, Alabama being one of them and one that has mentioned often and for a long time.
"I have been to Alabama several times now and the more I go over, the more I enjoy it. The players are real cool and they really want some playmakers on offense to get ready for life after Julio (Jones) and (Mark) Ingram." Singleton said recently to Shane Youngblood while in Tuscaloosa.
Yes Tobias Singleton does everything fast, but make up his mind.
