The 2018 class has seen its share of early commitments, and the month of February could see even more with schools preparing for upcoming junior days.

Monday kicked off a new week of commitments, as speedy 4-star cornerback Kalon Gervin, representing Detroit's Cass Tech High School, verbally pledged to Notre Dame over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and a host of other programs. Gervin, who has a verified 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds, is a Scout 300 player.

Here are a few recruiting updates on some elite 2018 players.

5-star OL Salyer talks early favorites

Jamaree Salyer

As the nation's top-ranked offensive lineman, Atlanta's Jamaree Salyer is a wanted man and is adding new offers routinely. He told Bleacher Report that Mississippi State is his latest offer.

"The recruiting process is fun," Salyer said, "but I'm excited to see what the next step is for myself."

Salyer, a 5-star talent, said he's ready to take a few unofficial visits, and he has stops to Alabama, UCLA, Texas, Stanford, Clemson and Georgia lined up. As for every favorites, Salyer said Clemson, Georgia, Stanford and Ohio State stand out.

At 6'3 ½" and 327 pounds, Salyer is ranked No. 8 on Scout.com's 2018 player rankings, and he's considered the nation's premier interior lineman. Salyer is expected to play guard at the next level.

4-star DE Wright discusses Pac-12 school

Max Wright

Katy, Texas, 4-star defensive end Max Wright is nearing 20 offers, including recent ones from USC and Miami. He told Bleacher Report that while his recruitment is "getting a little crazy," it's also a time that he's thoroughly enjoying.

"I'm just taking my time and letting everything pan out," he said. "A lot of schools are jumping in the mix. I know there were rumors I was going to commit [soon]. I'm not, nor anytime soon."

At 6'4" and 276 pounds, Wright is a tenacious defender and a fierce competitor. He has reported offers from Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Stanford, Georgia and others.

One school Wright is keeping an eye on is USC, a school that finished strong not only on the football field but also on the recruiting trail.

"It was awesome watching them close the way they did," Wright said of the Trojans. "The coaching staff is awesome. It's fun seeing the atmosphere they bring. My first offers were southern schools, so when I went there, it was different—but it's a good different.

"And seeing [Levi Jonescommit was awesome. The way they closed on signing day was awesome. They did really, really well."

Wright said he will continue to weigh his options and will look to the spring and summer to get new opinions about schools a little farther from home.

Juco TE announces current top 4

Arizona Western College tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson has six offers, but he picked up four of the six last week, from Central Florida, Louisville, Alabama and Oregon. The two latest ones are intriguing, as they include an SEC power in Alabama and one of the most attractive Pac-12 schools in Oregon.

"I've been patient, and I've been working hard," he said. "A lot of things are falling into place. It's just been a blessing."

Wood-Anderson, a 6'5", 249-pound San Diego native, told Bleacher Report on Sunday that he has a current top four of Louisville, Oregon, Utah and Alabama. Iowa State was his first offer, followed by Utah.

He said he doesn't have any unofficial visits scheduled but would like to make trips to his top four schools during the spring and summer. His latest two offers are intriguing.

"I've been watching Alabama all season. Picking up an offer from them, it's huge; they draw a lot of attention," Wood-Anderson said. "With Oregon, you've got to like their offense and how they spread the ball around. I've been talking to Tyree Robinson and Darren Carrington. They're both from San Diego. They've been telling me all about how it is up there."

The winning school will get an athlete who can be a traditional tight end but would most likely flourish as a flex end, someone who can operate as a big receiver.

No. 1 ATH Foster set for full recovery

B.J. Foster

Angleton, Texas, 4-star standout B.J. Foster is ranked as the nation's top-ranked athlete. All he wants is the opportunity to prove his ranking.

Foster tore the ACL in his knee halfway through the 2016 season. Since then, he's been out of action and had surgery roughly a month later. Foster was at The Opening Houston regional on Feb. 4, but he didn't participate in drills.

"Man...I really want to be out competing," he told Bleacher Report. "There are good DBs and receivers. It's killing me a little bit."

Foster said he recently started running again and will begin making cuts in his routes soon. He's expecting a full recovery by the summer.

Foster, ranked No. 14 in Scout.com's 2018 rankings, has picked up recent offers from Notre Dame, Florida and Penn State. He said schools like Texas, Ohio State and Michigan are three schools that stand out early, but he also plans on playing out his recruiting process.

Foster can play on either side of the ball, but he said he's planning on making a living at the college level as a defensive back. He showed what he could do as one of the few underclassmen invited to The Opening finals last summer.

"I'm looking for a good defense," he said, regarding college. "I like hard-hitting DBs and seeing them get sent to the league."
