Cotton Bowl 2017: Western Michigan vs. Wisconsin Live Score and Highlights
Wisconsin 24, Western Michigan 16โFinal
Wisconsin rushed for 184 yards and forced a crucial turnover in its 24-16 victory over Western Michigan in the 2017 Cotton Bowl Classic. The Broncos trailed 17-10 early in the fourth quarter, but Wisconsin's T.J. Edwards intercepted quarterback Zach Terrell at the 12-yard line to set up Wisconsin's pull-away score.
Senior running back Corey Clement led the way with 99 total yards and a touchdown, and it was an efficient game from quarterback Bart Houston. He was 11-of-12 passing for 159 yards, and he delivered some great passes on third down. His favorite target was tight end Troy Fumagalli, who finished with 83 yards and a touchdown.
Western Michigan gained 280 yards of total offense, but Terrell never got into rhythm against Wisconsin's pass rush. He was just 16-of-28 passing, and his interception in the fourth quarter was costly. Wide receiver Corey Davis probably helped his stock for the NFL Draft, as he hauled in six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Western Michigan didn't finish undefeated, but a 13-1 record is a great accomplishment for head coach P.J. Fleck in his fourth season at the school. Wisconsin improves to 11-3 with the win, its second 11-win campaign in the last three seasons.
