Although the Tigers have yet to play South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday night, they have already clinched a spot in the title game thanks to a 7-1 conference record in the Atlantic Division and a win over No. 11 Louisville that was the tiebreaker between the two programs.

At 10-1 overall, Clemson has been in the conversation for the College Football Playoff for most of this season despite losing to Pittsburgh on Nov. 12.

One more win against Virginia Tech will all but ensure that Clemson is in the committee's Final Four come Dec. 4.

Clemson has been led by Deshaun Watson; while he might not have put together as brilliant a season as his sophomore year in 2015, he still remains one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.

Entering Saturday night, he has racked up 3,279 passing yards with an additional 425 yards on the ground and 32 total touchdowns this season:

A lot of that aerial success is attributed to his chemistry with wide receiver Mike Williams, who has caught 73 of Watson's passes for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns.

But Clemson's vaunted pass attack will be playing a Virginia Tech passing defense that is second-best in the ACC behind Clemson and ranked 17th in the country.

The Hokies' blowout Commonwealth Cup win over Virginia on Saturday was just a formality to secure their spot in the conference title game due to North Carolina's loss to North Carolina State on Friday.

However, Virginia Tech doesn't have major weapons that can take over a game. Its passing and rushing attack is ranked 42nd and 57th, respectively, in the nation, while the defense allows a respectable 22.6 points per game.

It also has inexperience playing ranked teams this season. While the Hokies defeated North Carolina on Oct. 8, they lost to Tennessee on Sept. 10. Both of those schools were ranked 17th in the nation at the time of those meetings.

With a major layoff against ranked opponents, Virginia Tech will experience a challenge from Clemson it has yet to see this season.
