FSU vs. Miami Game to Be Played as Scheduled Despite Hurricane Matthew

Despite a severe weather threat from Hurricane Matthew, the Florida State Seminoles will travel to Hard Rock Stadium as scheduled for a clash with the Miami Hurricanes Saturday night. 

According to an official release from Florida State, "The decision to move forward with the game came after numerous conversations between Florida State, the ACC, the Miami Dolphins organization, the University of Miami and through consultation with Miami Dade County." 

The release also states both teams will wear helmet decals with the state of Florida covering the Red Cross logo. Additionally, both Miami and Florida State will donate $50,000 to hurricane relief. 

Like Florida State and Miami, the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans will also play their game this weekend as scheduled. 

On Friday, the NFL announced the Titans and Dolphins would meet at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday after the league said Thursday it was planning contingencies in case the storm forced the game to be postponed or moved. 

"Game will be played," the NFL said in a statement, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (via NFL.com's Austin Knoblauch). "Consensus from state, local and federal officials is Miami is safe and equipped to put on the game and it would not draw resources away from other needs."

In the SEC, the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers were forced to postpone their game originally scheduled for Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
