Georgia vs. Ole Miss: Live Score, Highlights for Bulldogs vs. Rebels

Brian MarronSep 24, 2016

Mississippi 45, Georgia 14. Game over.

Georgia's SEC East title quest took a hit Saturday as Mississippi pummeled the Bulldogs at home, and the Rebels look to still be alive in the SEC West thanks to an impressive victory.

Mississippi once again started strong, but it was able to sustain the lead this time as it went up 45-0 before taking its starters out in the fourth quarter. The team had previously blown 21-point leads to Alabama and Florida State, which both resulted in losses.

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly was tremendous, going 18-of-24 for 282 yards and two touchdowns passing while adding 53 yards and a score on the ground. He was aggressive and efficient as he took advantage of a weak Georgia secondary. Kelly was helped out by his receivers winning one-on-one battles, as A.J. Brown and DaMarkus Lodge each had big plays on jump balls.

The Rebels dominated at the line of scrimmage, averaging 5.8 yards per carry while harassing Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason all afternoon. The freshman ended up with just 137 yards and a pick on 16-of-36 throwing.

The running game was a bright spot for Georgia, as the team averaged 5.2 yards per rush behind freshman Brian Herrien, who notched 78 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Chubb left the game after limping off the field just before halftime, but he still turned in a decent 57 yards on 12 carries.

Georgia does not have time to pout over this stinker, as Tennessee comes to Athens next week in a crucial division matchup. The Rebels will look to avenge last season's loss with a home contest against Memphis.
