College Football Rankings 2016: NCAA Top 25 Predictions After Opening Saturday
This was hyped up as the best opening weekend in college football history, and Saturday did not disappoint.
According to SportsCenter, Saturday was the first time two Top Five teams fell on opening weekend since 1972.
The first college football Saturday of the year was complete with major upsets, high-powered offenses and breakout stars. And if you didn't get enough, there are two more nights of high-profile games before Week 1 wraps up.

Houston Cougars

It may still be early September, but the Houston Cougars are already cruising toward a berth in the College Football Playoff.
The Oklahoma Sooners represented the toughest challenge on the Cougars' schedule, and Houston disposed of Bob Stoops' squad with relative ease on Saturday afternoon.
As ESPN's Field Yates pointed out, this type of performance on the national stage is becoming a trend for the Cougars:
"University of Houston against ranked opponents under HC Tom Herman:
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 3, 2016"
* 5-0
* 3 top-15 wins
* Average margin of victory: 11.4 points/game
Houston will likely not face another ranked opponent until hosting the Louisville Cardinals on Nov. 17. Should the Cougars run the table, it may be tough to keep Tom Herman's team out of the playoff.
Of course, fans rooting for Houston to crash the playoff party now have to root for Oklahoma as well. This victory looks good right now, but if the Sooners don't live up to their preseason ranking the rest of the way, Houston could be left without a convincing win on its resume.
But in the short term, the Cougars' 33-23 win over Oklahoma is one of the most impressive victories of Week 1 and should land Houston in the Top 10 of this week's polls.
Ohio State Buckeyes

Urban Meyer might not have as much NFL talent on this year's roster, but without a quarterback controversy, he might have a more efficient offense.
J.T. Barrett, who could finally stop looking over his shoulder, accounted for seven of Ohio State's touchdowns and helped lead the Buckeyes to an easy 77-10 victory over Bowling Green.
According to ESPN.com's Austin Ward, Ohio State racked up a school-record 776 yards, topping a mark that had stood since 1930.
It's tough to make a statement against an opponent from the Mid-American Conference, but Ohio State's record-setting offensive performance has certainly put its future opponents on notice that this unit can light up the scoreboard.
LSU Tigers

LSU head coach Les Miles nearly lost his job after a disappointing 2015 season, and there are undoubtedly some fans in Baton Rouge questioning the school's decision to keep him around after the Tigers' performance at Lambeau Field on Saturday afternoon.
Heisman Trophy candidate Leonard Fournette was his usual dominant self, picking up 138 yards on 23 carries. But quarterback Brandon Harris looked lost, completing just 12 of 21 passes and tossing two interceptions.
It's baffling how a program in a talent-rich state like Louisiana continues to come up empty in its attempts to find a capable quarterback.
Unless Harris turns things around dramatically, LSU could be in for another long season. And this time around, there may not be a happy ending for Miles.
Georgia Bulldogs

Kirby Smart picked up his first career victory as the Georgia Bulldogs head coach with a nice win over the North Carolina Tar Heels.
It isn't exactly a signature win for the Bulldogs, but it is one of the more impressive victories from Week 1 and should allow Georgia to rise significantly in the rankings this week.
Many teams ahead of Georgia in the preseason polls, including SEC rivals LSU and Tennessee, struggled mightily in Week 1.
While Georgia was ranked just 18th in the preseason AP poll, the Bulldogs could be knocking on the door of the Top 10 this week thanks to an impressive showing in Week 1 and the sloppy play by those ahead of them in the rankings.
