Sad Oregon Fans Had to Watch Ducks' Alamo Bowl Collapse in a Sea of TCU Fans

Kyle NewportJan 3, 2016

It was a tale of two halves in the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl, which made for a roller coaster of emotions for the fans.

After all was said and done in San Antonio, the home crowd went home happy—and there were some extremely sad (and stunned) visiting fans who had to sit through a historic collapse.

The Oregon Ducks jumped out to a 31-0 lead over the TCU Horned Frogs in the first half of the game, but after center Matt Hegarty and quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. both left the game with injuries, the game began to turn.

Unbelievably, TCU came all the way back to tie the game at 31 in the final minute of the fourth quarter, equaling the largest comeback in bowl history.

Ducks fans had a great time celebrating what they thought would be an easy victory in the first half; the second half was a completely different story.

As you can see in the Vine above, Oregon fans had to sit through the collapse in a sea of purple. And that clip is from when the Ducks still had a lead. Imagine being those fans moments later, when the Horned Frogs kicked the game-tying field goal.

TCU finished off the epic comeback by pulling out a 47-41 victory in triple overtime. For all of those Ducks fans who have to make the trip from Texas to Oregon, it's going to be a sad flight home.
