According to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, the junior is slated to visit schools this winter before enrolling in a new school over the summer. Feldman added Webb will be eligible to play next season.
A 3-star prospect and pro-style quarterback prospect out of high school, according to 247Sports, Webb threw for over 2,500 yards and 20 touchdowns during the 2012 and 2013 seasons before he was supplanted as Texas Tech's starter by Patrick Mahomes.
"Davis Webb is the hardest-working individual I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching," Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said, according to the Dallas Morning News' Chuck Carlton.
During his first two seasons with the Red Raiders, Webb made it clear he had the talent necessary to thrive in a high-powered offense. Now questions will naturally crop up regarding the signal-caller's future. According to Feldman, Webb will likely consider SEC and Pac-12 schools once he completes nine more credits at Texas Tech.
Bleacher Report's Bryan Fischer offered Texas A&M as a potential landing spot following the departures of Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen:
Regardless of where Webb winds up, he should have a nice chance to boost his draft stock and transform into an intriguing prospect: "Kingsbury has said the 20-year-old junior has the tools to be a top-five overall NFL draft pick because of his size, arm strength and mind," Feldman wrote.
With a major talent hitting the open market, suitors should be lining up around the block to pitch Webb and present him with a chance to lead their offenses in 2016.
