Bryan Edwards to South Carolina: Gamecocks Land 4-Star WR Prospect

Timothy RappDec 15, 2015

Bryan Edwards, a 4-star wide receiver, announced Tuesday that he is committing to South Carolina.

Edwards' coach, Chuck Jordan, confirmed to Ian Guerin of the Myrtle Beach Sun News that Edwards was enrolling at South Carolina in January.

Edwards, a 6'3" and 208-pound wideout from Conway High School in South Carolina, is considered the No. 3 prospect in the state, the No. 44 overall wideout and the 217th-best prospect in the country, according to 247Sports' composite rankings

Edwards had decommitted from the Gamecocks in November and took a visit to Clemson, but he ultimately decided that South Carolina was the best fit for who he was as a player and what he was looking for in a program.

“Where I fit on the field and off the field,” Edwards said over the weekend when speaking about how he would make his decision, per Ryan Bartow and John Whittle of 247Sports. “Fitting in with the players, fitting in with the guys and feeling at home. I’m looking for where I want to spend the next four years as a player and a student.”

Edwards is the first recruit of Will Muschamp's tenure as the program's head coach. He had 53 catches for 969 receiving yards this past season before a knee injury cut his year short, so Muschamp is off to a solid start after adding a big, playmaking wide receiver to the fold.
