MSU QB Connor Cook Appears to Snub Ohio State Legend Archie Griffin, Apologizes
After seemingly wrapping up a spot in the College Football Playoff with a 16-13 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game, Michigan State Spartans quarterback Connor Cook probably expected to see a lot of congratulatory tweets when he got on Twitter after the game.
Instead, he was met with people calling him "disrespectful" for his perceived snub of legendary Ohio State running back Archie Griffin.
The two-time Heisman Trophy winner was on stage to present Cook with the Grange-Griffin Championship Game Most Valuable Player Trophy. However, when Griffin went to give the Spartans quarterback the trophy, Cook just grabbed the award and ignored the famous Buckeye.
Intentional or not, it wasn't a good look for the Michigan State senior—and it didn't sit well with some former Ohio State players and Buckeyes fans:
To his credit, Cook admitted his actions looked bad and made a point during a postgame interview to apologize to Griffin for the "snub:"
Even though the Buckeyes and Spartans are rivals, there's no reason to believe Cook was deliberately mistreating Griffin. This was likely just a college player getting caught up in the moment—the biggest of his career to date.
