In a 'Family Decision,' 5-Star Greg Little Postpones Announcement

Damon SaylesNov 13, 2015

The race for Greg Little marches on.

On the day where the 5-star, Allen, Texas, product—the nation's top-ranked offensive tackle and No. 2 player overall—was expected to announce his college plans, Little and his family have decided to postpone his decision until a date to be determined.

Little's mother, Terry Lacy-Little, and his cousin, Jamie Fair, both said Little's focus currently is on his high school team, which is riding a 53-game winning streak and working on a fourth-consecutive Texas high school state championship. Little was expected Friday to choose out of Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia and Auburn.

"It's a family decision," Lacy-Little said. "We feel like it's a tough decision, and we're just not ready [Friday]. He's starting playoffs, and we just want to shut this down for right now.

"We're looking at everything to where we're dotting every I and crossing every T," Fair added. "Once he's done with the playoffs and maybe after we get through the holidays, it'll give him a chance to decompress a little bit. From that point, there will be a lot more clarity."

It's no secret that Little, a 6'6", 315-pound offensive tackle, has a lot of respect for all five programs on his top list. He also wants to end his high school career without losing a varsity football game. Once the season concludes, look for Little to put recruiting into the forefront.

The postponement means the SEC will have to wait for the nation's top lineman. The postponement, however, does not mean that his favorite—because Little has a silent favorite—will change over the course of weeks.

"I'm not expecting him to feel differently," Fair said, "but we all feel it's best to just play everything out to where he can make a decision that won't waver in any form or fashion. Right now, getting through the playoffs and making it about Allen is the best way to go. At this point, he's still an Allen Eagle.

"We're not concerned with where he ends up," Lacy-Little added. "We just want to make sure, as Jamie said, all the Is are dotted and Ts are crossed."

Of Little's top five schools, Ole Miss is the only one not to host him on an official visit. Little said he plans on taking an official visit to Ole Miss in January.

He and his family, however, did take an unofficial visit to Ole Miss over the summer. The visit, per Little, received rave reviews.

Little originally was scheduled to announce his verbal commitment on Nov. 4, his 18th birthday, but he decided to push the date back to Friday in an effort of getting in an official visit to Alabama last week.
