Virginia Tech Football: Game-by-Game Predictions for the Month of November

Bryan ManningNov 11, 2015

The Virginia Tech Hokies football team picked up a much-needed win last week, defeating Boston College, 26-10, to improve to 4-5 on the season.

Now, the Hokies are coming off a bye week that saw legendary coach Frank Beamer announce his retirement following the 2015 season, per Dan Wolken of the USA Today

While there's plenty of time to discuss who'll replace Beamer, the Hokies still have three games remaining this season. And to become bowl-eligible for the 23rd-consecutive season, Tech needs to win two of its final three games.

Can the Hokies send out Beamer on a winning note?

Here are the game-by-game predictions for Virginia Tech's remaining 2015 schedule.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team have had an equally disappointing 2015 season as the Hokies. Both Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech were expected to compete for the ACC Coastal Division title this season. Suffice to say, that hasn't happened.

The Jackets are 3-6 (1-5) on the season and even their high-powered triple-option attack has taken a step back. The Jackets are No. 8 in rushing offense, averaging 267 yards per game, but that is 75 yards less than what Georgia Tech averaged last season. The Yellow Jackets won the Coastal last season.

The first ACC Championship game was played in 2005, either Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech has represented the Coastal division in all but one season. While that will not happen in 2015, this should still be a competitive, hard-hitting contest.

Six of the previous seven meetings between these two schools have been decided by one possession. That will likely be the case again in 2015.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 27, Georgia Tech 21

November 21 vs. North Carolina

The North Carolina Tar Heels football team have been the surprise team of the 2015 season in the ACC. At 8-1 (5-0), UNC is one game ahead in the Coastal Division and primed to break through to reach its first ACC title game.

The Tar Heels are No. 17 in total offense, so they will present quite the challenge for Virginia Tech's defense.

UNC runs a high-powered spread, led by senior quarterback Marquise Williams. Williams is completing 66 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns, and he has rushed for 558 yards and six more scores.

The Hokies have dominated this series since entering the ACC back in 2004. Tech leads the all-time series, 20-11-6 and are 9-2 against the Heels in ACC play.

As of two weeks ago, this one would've been easy to predict. Virginia Tech was struggling and UNC was cruising. Well, UNC is still hot, but the Hokies have a little extra motivation, and this will be Beamer's last home game at Lane Stadium.

That will give Tech the edge it needs.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 34, North Carolina 31

Beamer concludes his coaching career with a road game at a hated rival: Virginia. The Hokies have won 11 in a row against the Cavaliers and 15 of the past 16 meetings.

Why would this one be any different?

UVa (3-6, 2-3) is having another lackluster season, and head coach Mike London could—and should—be on his way out.

The last three meetings between the two have been close. Last season, the Hokies won the game on their final possession to become bowl-eligible.

Virginia will give the Hokies its best shot. But it won't be enough as Tech will not allow Beamer to go out with a loss to Virginia.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 24, Virginia 13
