High Hit on Oregon QB Vernon Adams Jr. Leads to Ejection
Vernon Adams Jr.'s Oregon Ducks debut on Saturday went extremely well, but it ended unexpectedly midway through the fourth quarter.
Facing his former team, Eastern Washington, Adams led his new team to a 54-35 lead through three quarters. Still in the game in the fourth quarter, the Ducks quarterback took off with the football, picking up seven yards and sliding for a first down. However, it could wind up being a costly scramble.

Eastern Washington's John Kreifels hit Adams above the shoulder pads as the quarterback slid, leading with his helmet. The hit shook Adams up and forced him to the locker room.
Kreifels drew a 15-yard personal foul for targeting and was ejected from the game:
On his way off the field, the sophomore linebacker taunted the Autzen Stadium crowd as he got booed.
Jeff Lockie took over for Adams at quarterback and helped the Ducks march down the field for another touchdown, extending their lead to 61-35. Adams, who threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns and added 94 yards on the ground, was able to return to the sideline.
Oregon fans received some good news after the game. Per John Canzano of the Oregonian, Adams expects to play against Michigan State next week:
