BYU Stuns Nebraska with 42-Yard Hail Mary TD on Final Play
In unbelievable fashion, the BYU Cougars stunned the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the final play of the game Saturday in Lincoln.
Trailing 28-27 with one second remaining, BYU had one last chance to win with a Hail Mary from the Nebraska 42-yard line.
Incredibly, the Cougars' prayers were answered.
BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum got the ball to the goal line, and receiver Mitch Mathews made a play. Not only did the wideout catch it, but he was able to get across the goal line despite having two defenders all over him.
Here's how the BYU Football Twitter account reacted to the unbelievable touchdown:
Cougars wideout Terenn Houk was so happy to see the referee signal touchdown that he decided it was time for hugs:
On the other side of things, the Cornhuskers were stunned:
Thanks to this miraculous play, BYU pulled out a 33-28 victory.
It was a wild scene in the BYU locker room after the game:
As ESPN's Darren Rovell noted, it was a costly loss for Nebraska:
