Brandon Greer, Central Michigan CB, Arrested: Latest Details, Mugshot, More
Former Central Michigan defensive back Brandon Greer was arrested Thursday and faces pending charges of assault and attempted kidnapping in connection with an incident Wednesday night.
Rick Mills of the Morning Sun reports a woman claimed she was able to escape after a man in a car asked her a question and then grabbed her arm as she approached. The report also included comments the victim later posted on Facebook: "I was almost abducted. I fought the guy off and ran with our dog to the apartment. I am safe, but another child or adult may not be so lucky."
Police were unable to immediately locate the alleged attacker. The next morning, Greer, 21, was questioned after fitting the description the victim provided—a black male in his early 20s with a small silver or gray car—and was then taken into custody.
Sporting News passed along his mugshot:
Witnesses told the Morning Sun that Greer was arrested after being spotted switching his parking places in a silver car and "watching another woman walking a dog."
James Jahnke of the Detroit Free Press notes Central Michigan announced its decision early Friday to dismiss the cornerback as a result of the incident. He's been removed from the team's roster for the 2015 season.
"After a thorough review of the situation, we have dismissed Brandon Greer from the football team and our athletic program," athletic director Dave Heeke said in a statement (via Jahnke). "We take all criminal misconduct very seriously and felt this case warranted immediate dismissal from our program."
Greer, who made 25 appearances for the Chippewas over the past two years, was set to enter his senior season.
