B/R Exclusive: Recruits Reveal Swag from Nike's The Opening
The competition between the nation’s top football prospects is set to heat up in the next few days at The Opening and Elite 11 camps, but the recruits started off the week receiving some sick Nike swag.
The quarterbacks were the first position to arrive on Sunday for the Elite 11 camp, and they are taking their haul of gear in a different way this year.

“The thing is that they are giving it to us workout by workout,” 3-star passer and Oklahoma State commit Nick Starkel said. “It’s not like they gave us a huge bag of stuff. It’s like we get a bag yesterday. When we get home tonight, there will be stuff in our room.”
So far, Starkel’s personal favorite item he’s received is the new Field General 2's.
“These are the new ones that haven’t even been released yet,” Starkel said.

According to Brandon Richard of Sole Collector, the grey colorway of the shoes—which counselors and quarterbacks have been wearing the first two days of the event—comes out Wednesday.
The quarterbacks weren't the only ones to get in on the action, though. Once the other players arrived, they were quick to show off the apparel Nike sent them.
Current Notre Dame pledge and 4-star running back Tony Jones Jr. showed off his newest batch of Nike gear upon arriving at his room.

In addition to the Field General 2's, he was given another pair of colorful kicks, along with a handful of shirts, shorts, socks and hats.
"I'm thankful for this gear and blessed to have the opportunity to wear it," Jones said.
Getting to this point wasn't easy for these prospects. To receive an invite to The Opening finals at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, many of these recruits had to shine at regional combines. They are some of the best high school football players in the country, so they earned this sweet gear.
Over the next several days, the players will undergo intense training and competition in front of coaches and scouts from all over the country. The pressure to perform couldn't be higher.
While the competition later this week is sure to be intense, the swag the players receive from Nike is one of the nicer perks that comes with their trip to The Opening.
