ESPN.com's Alex Scarborough confirmed the story, adding that Prescott was not seriously injured:

Video of the attack surfaced on Twitter following the incident:

Bulldogs signal-caller Damian Williams took to Twitter to express his frustration about the incident. In a tweet that has since been deleted, Williams stated, "We got jumped for no reason, It's sad we can't go anywhere without being attacked by people."

Prescott would later tweet about the situation as well:

Brooks Roberts of Bulldog Sports Radio located an image of Prescott receiving medical attention following the altercation:

Michael Bonner of The Clarion-Ledger added more details, which came from Prescott's family: "Dak Prescott is recovering from lacerations to his face after a group of men attacked the Mississippi State quarterback and his teammates during a trip on spring break, Prescott's family told the Clarion-Ledger."

Bonner later reported that Prescott and his teammates had returned to campus after the incident and that there would be no further comment.

Edward Aschoff of ESPN reports no legal action will be taken:

Brandon Walker of the Commercial Dispatch confirmed through a Panama City Beach PD spokesman that no arrests have been made on the alleged assault.

With Prescott listed at 6'2" and 230 pounds on the school's official website, it's a bit of a surprise anyone wanted to attack him. After all, the rising senior didn't have many problems taking on SEC linebackers in the open field with his powerful running style.

Prescott has been thrust into the spotlight after a 2014 campaign in which he contended for the Heisman Trophy and had Mississippi State atop the initial College Football Playoff rankings. The dynamic QB threw for 3,449 yards and ran for nearly 1,000 more, accounting for 41 total touchdowns.
