T-Shirt Gun Explodes, Injures Arkansas Razorbacks Intern

Randy ChambersAug 31, 2013

T-shirt guns are used throughout sporting events across the country and are typically harmless. However, that wasn't the case during the Arkansas vs. Louisiana-Lafayette matchup on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

An intern in the University of Arkansas' athletics marketing department was injured when a T-shirt gun exploded, according to Matt Jones of Whole Hog Sports.

It happened shortly after kickoff and the sound of the explosion could be heard throughout the stadium.

The intern, who immediately fell to the ground after the explosion, was taken from the stadium on a stretcher. The name of the victim was not released and his condition isn't known at this time, per the report.

T-shirt guns are powered by high-pressure air tanks and are designed to blast shirts throughout the stadium. While some are bigger than others, most are able to shoot a shirt up to the second level of a stadium.

Last year, the Philadelphia 76ers revealed the world's largest T-shirt cannon, which is powerful enough to fire 100 shirts within 60 seconds and can reach just about any section of the Wells Fargo Center.

The concerns now, though, are obviously with the young man who was injured during the freak accident.
