Arkansas Defense Smothers Offense in Scrimmage; Running Back Injured

FastTimesintheSEC.comApr 2, 2009

The Arkansas coaching staff put their team through a grueling 111 play scrimmage on Wednesday. The offense struggled mightily. The running game could get no yardage, the quarterback play was off target, and receivers dropped balls.

Ryan Mallett put up some dismal numbers, completing 17 of 30 passes (not so bad a percentage), but with two interceptions. Mallett and the first team offense were unable to score touchdowns on three opportunities and were forced to settle with field goals.

Mallett said, "That defense was flying around today. Our offense has got to get better as a whole group. We came out pretty sluggish. We can't do that and we know that. We've got to get better as a unit."

On the injury front, it was announced that freshman running back (January enrollee) Knile Davis broke his ankle and will certainly miss the remainder of the Razorbacks' spring practices.
