Reuben Foster, the 5-star ILB who got that Auburn tat months ago only to decommit to Auburn, just said he'll play for Bama.— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) February 5, 2013
The 6'1", 240-pound inside linebacker is considered the top overall recruit from the state of Alabama and the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2013 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.
It's no wonder that multiple big-time programs were after Foster from the start, as he figures to be one of the better downhill tacklers and hardest hitters in the class. His power, speed and size make him an imposing defender, and his burst and instincts could make him a complete linebacker capable of making tackles across the field.
Foster not only displays eye-opening physical attributes, but his technique is also strong, as he uses his arms well to shed opposing linemen while taking precise angles to the ball. In addition, he shows surprising fluidity when pursuing the ball.
The result is a defender who can simply knock ball-carriers and offensive linemen backward with his strength and leverage, while also displaying the speed to get around them.
If there is an area of improvement for the explosive defender, his coverage skills could use some work, but he certainly has the burst to be an asset in that department as well.
This is a prospect who can not only be a disruptive force on defense, but also a dynamic special teams player. There isn't a whole lot not to like about Foster, and he figures to make an impact right away at the next level for Nick Saban's Crimson Tide.
