Ohio State Coach Mike Vrabel Shows Awful Side of Headbutting a Helmet

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - APRIL 14: Linebacker Mike Vrabel of the Kansas City Chiefs arrives for court ordered mediation at the U.S. Courthouse on April 14, 2011 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mediation was ordered after a hearing on an antitrust lawsuit filed by NFL players against the NFL owners when labor talks between the two broke down last month. Mike Vrabel is a man who throws caution to the wind, especially when deciding to headbutt a player who is wearing a helmet.

BuzzFeed came across an interesting photo of Vrabel which shows the aftermath of his run-in with a helmet.

The Buckeyes just polished off an unbeaten season with a 26-21 victory over their rival Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, certainly a reason to celebrate and dive right into manic celebration.

But Vrabel managed to destroy his noggin before ever getting to that point. According to this tweet, Vrabel decimated his head because he was just so amped before the game.

The former NFL player, who is in his second year with the program (first as defensive line coach), decided it was a bright idea to headbutt a player, who was wearing a helmet.

As you can guess, Vrabel was not and here is the aftermath, via this tweet from Vrabel's wife Jen.

@derek11w Here's the pic to prove it! Best not to headbutt a guy w/ a helmet on when you aren't wearing one!! #einstein

We understand rivalry games get everyone excited and this one was all the more special considering it was the biggest game a program on probation could play for this year.

Still, leave the pregame festivities to pounding energy drinks, giving chest bumps and rousing speeches.

Leave the headbutting to the players who happen to be wearing helmets.

Hit me up on Twitter but not too hard, because I'm not wearing a helmet.
