West Virginia Football: Dana Holgorsen Shoots Down Big East at Big 12 Media Days

West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen has coached in the Big 12 before. He held numerous positions at Texas Tech and was an offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma State Cowboys just a couple of years ago.

So it is safe to say that he knows a thing or two about how things work in this conference.

Now that he is the head coach of the Mountaineers, who are moving from the Big East and entering their first year in the Big 12, Holgorsen is once again seeing some of the differences between the two conferences. (Via David Ubben of ESPN)

West Virginia is quickly becoming a big-market program. Morgantown provides one of the most electric atmospheres in college football, and it was clear last season that this team does not belong playing a bunch of basketball schools on the football field.

The Big East is a conference that is without question the weakest in the BCS, and it is losing some of its best teams left and right.  

With the Mountaineers' high-scoring offense, they will likely become a fan favorite in the Big 12, and they should immediately compete for conference titles and eventually national championships. Playing with teams such as Texas and Oklahoma should quickly build this program up, help recruiting and turn West Virginia into an actual football powerhouse within a few years.
