It always surprises me to discover what still surprises people.

Redundancies aside, I was shocked to find that a picture of a budding college football star in a dress caused quite the stir recently.

Let's plod right into the most non-controversial controversy of the day. It involves this picture of Oklahoma Sooners wideout Kenny Stills in a purple dress.

The only thing really shocking is that he went with purple when clearly he is more of an autumn.

SportsGrid found the picture, and mentions of it were made by Busted Coverage. It seems the image was taken from 247 Sports

As you can imagine, the comments in the 247 Sports post are filled with fans who are beside themselves with incredulity. One post actually gives us some back story for the picture of a receiver in a dress fit for prom.

It was done as a joke. One of our DB Gabe Lynn got married this weekend and they posted that saying they had another bridesmaid. I think it was supposed to be an inside joke that wasn't supposed to get out.

Kenny Stills managed to answer the impetus behind his belle at the ball look, via his Twitter feed.

Nope was just a joke. Made a friend laugh RT @TheLAllenCotner: @KSTiLLS4 there's gotta be a story behind this. Lose a bet or something?

Busted Coverage has a breakdown of some of the most ridiculous tweet responses to this image. And yes, a couple are homophobic as expected.

You would think after years of athletes putting on dresses as a goof, and even Charles Barkley being featured in a gown for Weight Watchers, we would need a great deal more to get riled up.

I guess not.

It seems some sports fans are just as predictable as ever, and that scares me. Can't a man just dress up in a pretty dress anymore?
