Greetings, Buff fans, from CU At the Game!
If you have been busy at work this week and haven’t had much time to scan the Internet and airwaves for information about your Buffs, consider yourself lucky. It has been a rough week. Two previous CU commits, wide receiver Diante Jackson and defensive tackle Nosa Eguae, are apparently heading to other schools. There have been no new commits, and the chat rooms are full of negativity.
www.cuatthegame.com to the rescue!
For your perusal and review, on the website is the following.
Though there are no new verbal commits, there is plenty of news. The Buffs have made an offer to East High kicker Zach Grossnickle, who makes his official visit next weekend. Also coming to Boulder in the next week are no fewer than six other recruits!
Plus, in case you haven’t heard, five-star defensive tackle Nick Kasa from Broomfield, who committed to play at Florida last month, had an interesting quote about the CU program and his commitment status (UPDATE - 1/11/09 - Kasa de-commits from Florida and commits to Colorado!!!!!)
Plus, an essay entitled, "A Touch of Grey."
Yes, it’s true. I am now quoting the Grateful Dead!
I’ll walk you through this week’s news to the accompaniment of the lyrics of none other than the immortal Jerry Garcia! It's good stuff!
Or maybe I’m just losing it. You decide...
Plus, in case you are feeling down about the program, I have two game stories which will pick you up.
I heard this week from a CU fan who is a Drake graduate. If you are of a certain age, the mere mention of "Drake" makes you flinch. It was in the dark days of the Chuck Fairbanks era when the Buffs lost—twice!—to the Bulldogs from Des Moines.
I have included on the website the infamous story about the 1980 CU/Drake game, and, just for fun, the story about the game played before that one. You may remember it. You certainly remember the score...82-42...
Plus, the Recruiting Spotlight shines this week on Zach Grossnickle, our potential savior at kicker.
Read what Zach had to say about CU (you'll like it). I have also left up last week’s spotlight on Diante Jackson, so you can read again all the nice things Diante said about the Buffs (which may lead you to believe that particular recruiting battle is not entirely over)...
Need more? Tough. That’s all there is this week (unless you haven’t read the Postseason Review or taken the "name that bowl game" quiz, in which case there is even more for you).
Don’t forget to send me your CU stories at firstname.lastname@example.org
I’ll be posting recruiting updates on the site as they happen, with full updates every Sunday until signing day, Wednesday, Feb. 4. Keep in touch!
