Cyler Miles to Washington: Huskies Land 4-Star QB Prospect
Cyler Miles, the No. 10 quarterback recruit in the 2012 class according to ESPNU, has decided to go to Washington, pairing up with four-star quarterback recruit Jeff Lindquist.
Tweeted Ryan Abraham:
Miles is a dangerous dual-threat quarterback, but he's a passer first. Despite having impressive size and athleticism, it's his consistency in the pocket and his fundamentals that make him an intriguing recruit. Miles has shown exceptional ability to drive the ball to all the spots on the field when he sets his feet and his ability as a play-action passer makes him a hard player to defend.
Miles has great balance when throwing the ball and his poise in the pocket exudes confidence. He also has the arm strength to make tough throws while running out of the pocket.
Perhaps what makes Miles such an underrated recruit is that he has the elusiveness to be a scary presence as a rusher, but he won't scamper if he doesn't need to. He understands the primary role of a quarterback and doesn't let his legs take over when it's not necessary.
Miles does need to work on his consistency in the deep game, somewhat erratic at times the further he throws the ball, but he's also shown the ability to make these deep throws. With more work in this area, he will become even more dangerous. When you have an athlete of his caliber, there's the tendency for defenses to be wary of the run. If he can burn them downfield consistently, he's going to be a nightmare to game-plan for.
