Fantasy Football Rankings: Week 7 Big Board
For those of you lamenting your seemingly endless fantasy losses, either in the standings or from the injury news, we give you a piece of Albert Einstein genius: Energy can neither be created or destroyed—it merely changes form.
Fantasy might be dealing you lemons, but there are plenty of lemonade stands still open in fantasy this fall.
We break down Bleacher Report's Week 7 Big Board with an emphasis on fantasy's life after death. The New England Patriots were left for dead a few weeks ago when Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs ripped them, but one week or one month do not make a season. Persistence does.
For every fantasy player injured or struggling, there are resources available to fix what ails you.
We unveil the initial top 100 plays for Week 7, including a position-by-position breakdown. You can use these rankings to weigh your starting options or gear up for your daily fantasy football lineups, drafts and rosters. These rankings represent our predictions for the highest scorers—relative to their use, game plan, health and matchup.
Top 100: LeSean McCoy's Revival Is a Great Lesson in Fantasy Patience
1 of 7
If you're in a fantasy world like we are, you could make a pretty nice-looking fantasy team with those headed to the weekly injury report, if not those whose seasons are already done.
The NFL's and fantasy football's battle of attrition has claimed its latest victims this week, including Victor Cruz (knee), Knowshon Moreno (knee), Stevan Ridley (knee) and Marvin Jones (foot) after they were placed on IR on Tuesday. Also, we're still waiting for Jimmy Graham (shoulder), Calvin Johnson (ankle) and A.J. Green (toe) to have their statuses determined in the near term.
On the bright side, at least we are not talking about the disappointments of your early first-round running backs.
LeSean McCoy was the latest to rejoin the land of the thriving, rushing for a season-high 149 yards in Sunday night's victory over the New York Giants. We can lament his dearth of touchdowns, but why be picky? At least his reeling offensive line cannot be put to blame any longer.
McCoy told the Philadelphia Daily News' Rich Hofmann:
"The guys up front just blew 'em off the line, all game. ... As a running back, you start getting in your groove. You start picking them apart. ... I felt I made a lot better decisions, just hitting it. ... I never lost confidence in myself and the guys up front—you guys (the media) did. I've got thick skin.
"
That is music to McCoy's owners' ears, not so much his opponents'. The Giants made the mistake of buying into the hype of McCoy's struggles, apparently.
"Surprisingly, they left the safety out of the box (near the line of scrimmage), which was different," McCoy told Hofmann. "And they paid for it. By the time they moved the safety down, it was too late."
Hopefully you didn't make the Giant mistake of selling low on Slim Shady, because he clearly is still the real McCoy, as we wrote in Bleacher Report's Week 6 Predictions under the Biggest Bounce-Back Player category.
The bad news is we don't rank McCoy among the top plays for fantasy Week 7...because he is on bye. Here is B/R's initial Top 100:

Quarterbacks: Tom Brady Still Making the Best of Bad Situations
2 of 7Remember when Tom Brady was getting the shoe from New England media just a few short weeks ago? He was on the trade block. Rookie Jimmy Garoppolo was going to begin making starts if the knee-jerks had their way.
Wow, those fools look clueless now, and Brady looks primed for a big-time run for loyal fantasy owners.
With Stevan Ridley (knee), the New England Patriots' only true power runner, officially going down for the season, the offensive onus falls back on the right shoulder that has made the Pats the team of the century. Brady turns a watered-down receiving corps into wine year after year. Wideout Brandon LaFell and tight end Tim Wright are the latest to step forward.
Now, Brady faces a New York Jets secondary that is reeling and just lost one of its own, former first-round cornerback Dee Milliner (Achilles) for the season. The Jets are the fourth-worst team in fantasy against quarterbacks, according to FFToday.com, and have to face a scorching-hot Brady at home on a short week.
Traveling to Foxborough, Massachusetts, for a prime-time game a couple of Sundays ago wound up being a nightmare for the Cincinnati Bengals. That was a good defense, playing well, against a Pats offense that couldn't get out of its own way.
This Thursday night lines up nicely for Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, LaFell and Wright, as we chronicled Tuesday in B/R's Insider Notebook. We rank Brady as the No. 1 play in all of fantasy, assuming his once-held position atop the quarterback rankings.
It just rarely matters who is supporting Brady. He has made a career out of making careers out of spare parts. He was, after all, once a spare part himself as Drew Bledsoe's unheralded fill-in. Brady told Lee Schechter at ESPNBoston.com:
"You start with a certain number of players at the beginning of the year, and as the year goes on every week teams are hurt with injuries and another guy gets called up, but all the work done in practice has hopefully prepared you. You sit in all the same meetings that the other guys sit in, getting not quite as many reps, but you are being coached the same way. ...
When you get your opportunity, that's what you have to take advantage of. You don't know how many opportunities you are going to get in the NFL, and when you get your one, you better be ready to take advantage of it.
"

Running Backs: Take Advantage of Early-Season Bums as Buy-Low Candidates
3 of 7Fantasy readers always want the scoop on who's next. It is fairly easy to see which players are the cream of the waiver-wire crop in a given week, but if you really want to knock it out of the park like a big, old Alfred Morris home run swing after a touchdown, you need to make an aggressive trade with an unsuspecting bottom-feeder.
Morris is a great place to look. He is Week 7's version of Week 6's LeSean McCoy. Buy while the buying is good.
The Washington Redskins running back has survived a two-week buzzsaw against the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals run defenses. Now, he gets a reprieve.
The Redskins are facing the Tennessee Titans back at home this week, a team that ranks 28th in the NFL against the run. We return Morris to the top 10 among fantasy running backs for that favorable matchup.
CSNWashington.com's Rich Tandler agreed, predicting a breakout game for the struggling back and the Redskins running game.

Wide Receivers: Injuries Have Made a Mess of the Rankings of Late
4 of 7Zero running back fantasy strategists had their days in the early going of the season. They loved celebrating early misfortunes of the likes of Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Adrian Peterson and Eddie Lacy.
Contrarians are saying, "How do you like it now?"
Calvin Johnson (ankle) and A.J. Green (toe) are facing longer absences, perhaps, while fantasy has already lost Victor Cruz (knee) and has dealt with the extended struggles of the San Diego Chargers' Keenan Allen, Seattle Seahawks' Percy Harvin, the Minnesota Vikings' Cordarrelle Patterson and the Denver Broncos' Wes Welker.
There are no hard and fast ways to build a fantasy champion. In fact, any strategy that goes all-in one specific way is more likely to fail than not.
Specifically on Megatron, better days are ahead, but it might be a waiting game. Even Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell isn't sure about the next few weeks from his star wideout, telling The Detroit News' Josh Katzenstein:
"I leave it up to the doctors. They know exactly what it takes, what can be done—them in conjunction with how he feels. They treat not only the symptoms and the situation, but also the patient as well in terms of what he feels. So, they'll let us know what's the best avenue to take.
"
While you are anxiously waiting for your first-round receiver to recover from yet another nagging ailment, here are B/R's top wide receiver plays for Week 7:

Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham (and Other) Absences Can Be Overcome
5 of 7There is hope for those with Jimmy Graham (shoulder) on their fantasy roster, and it is not merely wishing Graham makes a surprising return in Week 7. Fantasy options always tend to come out of the woodwork at the tight end position.
It makes that risk you took by drafting Graham so early in Round 1 not look so bad...even if Graham does miss the next two games, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted Sunday morning.
Graham is headed for the official NFL injury report, while the likes of Jordan Cameron, Jordan Reed, Jason Witten and Vernon Davis appear to be headed back to prominence after slow starts for fantasy owners. The only thing you need out of your Graham injury replacement is a short touchdown catch. There are dozens of potential places to look for one of those.
B/R breaks down the top options at tight end for Week 7 here:

Defense/Special Teams: Feel Sorry for the St. Louis Rams This Week
6 of 7
You want to see the makings of a defensive beatdown? Get the defending Super Bowl champions' defense—coming off a rare home loss—in a matchup against the worst team in fantasy against opposing defense/special teams.
Or just face the New York Jets.
The Seahawks are traveling to St. Louis to take on the Rams, who have taken over the title from the Jacksonville Jaguars as the team you most want your fantasy defense/special teams to face. The Rams are dead last against D/STs, according to FFToday.com.
The only thing that could be more intriguing for the Seahawks D/ST as a start would be to face those struggling Jets, with their woeful dead-last passing offense.
Here are B/R's top D/ST plays for Week 7:
| Rank | Defenses and Special Teams | Team | Opponent | ECR | vs. ECR |
| 1 | New England Patriots | NE | vs. NYJ | 1 | 0 |

Kickers: Mike Nugent Getting Opportunities...and Missing Them
7 of 7
You think kickers are afterthoughts? Ask the Cincinnati Bengals and Mike Nugent, who has missed an alarming six field goals among his NFL-high 17 attempts, including a potential game-winner Sunday.
Nugent might be kicking for his job at this point, forget fantasy value, as ESPN.com's Coley Harvey wrote.
The silver lining for keeping Nugent is the Bengals have been giving him ample opportunities. Only Stephen Gostkowski has attempted as many field goals through six weeks, per FFToday.com.
Gostkowski himself has gone through slumps before, but he has missed just one field goal this season to Nugent's six. That is the difference between B/R's No. 1 kicker for Week 7 and the last option in our top 20 here:
| Rank | Kickers | Team | Opponent | ECR | vs. ECR |
| 1 | Stephen Gostkowski | NE | vs. NYJ | 1 | 0 |
