NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Dream Trade Scenarios for Monta Ellis

1 of 7

There's so much talk about Monta Ellis being traded from the Warriors. Despite management saying that isn't happening, Stephen Curry saying he wants Ellis to stay and the NBA lockout, trade rumors and speculations are swirling. Each list of potential trade targets and destinations shows essentially the same possibilities.

This isn't one of those lists.

This is a list of the dream trade scenarios. Ones that won't happen in a million years. This is not an article based on rumor, research, or reason. It's basically a fun little way to pass time until we finally find out where Ellis will be playing next year.

We're all bored with this lockout. All we can really do is speculate or discuss things that we'd love to happen. But most of our wishes only come true in our dreams. These are some of those dreams. For the Warriors and others as well.

Lakers: Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh for Kobe Bryant

2 of 7

The Lakers decide they want to go young. Their stars are aging and the search for a new dynasty begins.

Despite the numerous pleas from fans everywhere, Los Angeles decides to deal their face of the franchise, Kobe Bryant, before he begins his decline. What had once been a possible Bryant-Ellis backcourt has now evolved into a changing of the guards.

Monta Ellis will go to the Lakers and leads Los Angeles for years, joined by other young teammate Ekpe Udoh.

Kobe Bryant will begin a new chapter in Oakland, leading the Warriors to a playoff run the first year he joins the team.

Hornets: Monta Ellis for Chris Paul

3 of 7

The Hornets know Chris Paul is not going to be around forever. He’s already laid the ultimatum, stating New Orleans needs to make some big changes or he won’t be back.

Chances are that won’t happen, so Paul may be on his way out. Rather than wait until that happens, the Hornets choose to trade Paul to the Warriors for Monta Ellis.

Ellis isn’t the point guard the Hornets lost, but he adds to the team. The Warriors, however, have an amazing addition in Paul.

Heat: Monta Ellis for LeBron James

4 of 7

The Heat came so close to a championship this season, but fell short. They want to make another run at it but with a different collection of talent.

LeBron James had issues, to say the least, in the last series. They want a new guy who might come through more in the clutch, so they choose to trade James to the Warriors for Monta Ellis.

Ellis becomes the third star the Heat need, and James finds his niche as the Warriors’ superstar small forward.

Heat (Take 2): Monta Ellis for Udonis Haslem and Zydrunas Ilgauskas

5 of 7

The Heat were so close to a championship. They decide if they get one more star then the 2012 title will be theirs.

They are able to get Monta Ellis for Udonis Haslem and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Now the new fantastic four are completely unstoppable.

The Heat rule the NBA for years.

Knicks: Monta Ellis and David Lee for Carmelo Anthony

6 of 7

Carmelo Anthony decides he doesn’t want to play for the Knicks anymore.

Originally he left the Nuggets because he wanted to be part of a younger team. Now he’d rather be back on a team that needs a superstar.

He chooses the Warriors and demands to be traded. Eventually the Knicks give in and trade him to the Warriors for Monta Ellis and David Lee. The Warriors now have a legitimate face of their franchise for years to come.

You Be the Storyteller

    Your turn.

Warriors fans: If you could have anyone in the league for Monta Ellis, who would you want...Dwight Howard anyone?

Fans of other teams: Who do you wish you could get away with trading for Ellis?

Everyone: What's the most ridiculous trade scenario you've heard from some naive wishful fan?

Explain yourself if you please...we're all bored waiting for the lockout to end. Let this be your playground until the NBA gets itself all figured out.

Feel free to tweet me @itsallyduhh with your ideas, but leave them here to get the conversation started.
