Rudy Gay may still be lying on the ground somewhere, wondering how Jamal Crawford went from unassuming Clippers guard to basketball-wielding human blur.
The Wednesday night NBA opener for the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers was chock full of magnificent moments. One revolved around the chippiness between Zach Randolph and Blake Griffin, while this one related to Rudy Gay's ankles.
Hat tip to Cosby Sweaters for spotting the exact moment Gay became a mere spectator sprawled across the hardwood, taking in the grace and grandeur that was a driving Crawford.
If you look closely, you can probably see a solitary tear running down the Memphis star's cheek.
The play comes with seven-plus minutes to go in a game the Clippers would eventually win, 101-92. At this point, the game is all square, until epic ensues.
Crawford goes to his right as Gay gets past a screen. When the Clippers guard fakes left, Gay bites hard and goes down hard.
This would be the time where someone yells, "Jenga!"
Crawford proceeds to get into the lane and hit a runner to give his team the lead, and the crowd goes nuts.
The 32-year-old would finish with 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, making this quite the start to the 2012-13 season for the vet.
