LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan: Putting the Debate to Rest Once and for All
Its Scottie Pippen's fault. He started this. His comments after the Miami Heat eliminated the Chicago Bulls from the playoffs set off a firestorm of hatred in the very city that adores him.
In case you live in a cave, Scottie Pippen said "LeBron James may be the best player ever". With that, it was on. This was before LeBron's major collapse in the NBA Finals, though.
Though I didn't agree with Pippen's assessment, I didn't think it was as ludicrous as every one else seemed to think it was. I started a project after the season concluded that allowed me to properly assess both players' careers.
I even watched some of the tons of old Michael Jordan games I have and the tons of LeBron James game footage that is available online. I compared the two players in every meaningful category to determine who is really the best.
I created a video demonstrating the qualities of both great players. I am a huge sports video game fan (I have a website dedicated to these types of video productions, franchiseplay.net).
That said, it would have been customary to piece together footage from all this real life game tape and highlights, but I decided to demonstrate my analysis sports-gamer style.
Using the outstanding NBA 2K11, I created a video using Michael Jordan and LeBron James in action. I speak to all of the comparable categories and encourage you to vote or comment on any part or the entire video.
Here are some of the categories:
Athleticism
Three-Point Shooting
Post Game
Defense
Penetrator/Finisher
Free Throw Shooting
And a few more.
