All-Time Best Orlando Magic Players: Part 2

Joey CinquegranaContributor IMay 31, 2010

A while back I made an Orlando Magic best players to ever play for the team article, well I've decided to make an updated version of the old one.

During the last two seasons since I last posted this, the Orlando Magic have done great, but haven't gotten what they wanted at the end of the season.

In 2008-2009, the Orlando Magic finished with a 59-23 record, and was the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference.  They beat the Philadelphia 76ers in 6 games, then they went on to face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semis, and went on to beat them on their court in game 7 to advance to face Cleveland for the Eastern Conference Crown.  They would beat Cleveland in 6 games, and eventually lose to the Los Angeles Lakers in 5 games.

2009-2010, with the same hope to win the championship, they added Vince Carter as their biggest addition in the offseason, they finished the season as 59-23 again, and this time as the second seed in the Eastern Conference.  They eliminated both their opponents in the first two rounds in sweeping fashion.  Then as favorites against the Boston Celtics, they would go and lose to in six games, and losing the first 3.

Who knows who they'll pick up in the offseason, J.J. Redick has said he'd come back to the Magic in a backup role to play with a winner, rather than be a starter with a team with no so good of a chance to win it all.  Matt Barnes has opted-out, and has said he'd like the come back though.

As a long time Orlando Magic fan, I'd like to have J.J. Redick back, and I was really hoping Matt Barnes wouldn't opt out, but this is a business and Barnes is doing what is best for him.  I am big fan of C.J. Watson, whose currently with the Golden State Warriors, and he actually was close to joining the Magic last off-season, so who knows, maybe he'll be Jameer Nelson's back-up next year.

Tracy McGrady, one of the best players to ever play for the Magic has said he wouldn't mind joining cousin, Vince Carter with the Orlando Magic.  Maybe something could happen there.

Another former Magic player from the Tracy McGrady era, Mike Miller has also said he wouldn't mind coming back to Orlando as well.

I'll tell you what though, Shaquille O'Neal is a free agent, and I never want to see him wear a Magic uniform ever again. It's weird as a Magic fan, he kind of started my dedication to this team, and I've grown to dislike the guy.

The Orlando Magic open a new arena next year, I was really hoping to see this team open that new arena with not only another Eastern Conference Champions banner, but their first ever NBA Champions banner.  Well, like the Yankees opened their place with a championship, hopefully the Magic will do the same in their sport.

I would also like to add one more player to the list, because of how well he played in this seasons postseason, J.J. Redick is the player, I think he deserves it now, he definitely has become a big time favorite player of mine, and this is coming from a person who doesn't like Duke very much.
