Before playing with his new Boston Celtics teammates, Kyrie Irving returned to his Uncle Drew roots alongside his true basketball elders.

As Variety's Justin Kroll first reported in February, Irving agreed to reprise his Pepsi commercial character for a feature film. Per Celtics Blog's Jared Weiss, Celtics general manger Danny Ainge confirmed that his newest acquisition took a break from shooting the movie for the introductory press conference:

On Tuesday morning, SportsCenter posted a photo of Irving in his grayed getup. Reggie Miller, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Nate Robinson and Lisa Leslie joined him in wigs to assemble an aged All-Star team.

The Carmichael Show's Lil Rel Howery and Erica Ash from Survivor's Remorse round out the featured castmates.

According to Deadline's Amanda N'Duka, Nick Kroll will also appear in the film as Howery's nemesis. Perhaps this means Gil Faizon will face off against Uncle Drew or prank him with too much tuna

A movie based on a soda advertisement may seem like the type of reach Uncle Drew warned against, but Irving's alter ego gained instant popularity. He could now also compete with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James off the court if Space Jam 2 ever comes to fruition.
