On June 28, ESPN's Marc Stein reported the Spurs were "keeping Diaw" despite the fact that they could have saved $4 million by waiving him before July 1. ย
Although he was a key cog in San Antonio's run to a championship in the 2014 NBA Finals and kept up his level of play the following season, Diaw saw his role decrease in 2015-16. He matched a career low in playing 18.2 minutes per contest, largely due toย LaMarcus Aldridge's arrival.
Diaw is a seasoned pro who should be fresh for next season after playing sparingly of late and should draw interest from around the league.
