Blake Griffin's Most Impressive Career Dunks

Fred KatzJul 28, 2015

Marvin the Martian is coming for us. Good thing we have Blake Griffin and his new Super.Fly 4 shoes to save the world.

Marvin may be flying to Earth, but Griffin is flying all over it. That's why when the interplanetary criminal gets here and challenges Earth's most powerful leaper to a dunk contest—winner gets the planet—we know we are in good hands.

Think Marvin stands no chance? Better make sure he doesn't get his Martian hands on Blake's new Jordan Brand "machines," which hit stores Aug. 5

Check out some of the awesome Marvin the Martian-themed kicks in the link above.

Until then, let's just remind ourselves how safe we are leading up to the most important dunk contest in world history.

10. Over the Kia

1 of 11

How do we know Kia has brilliant people in advertising? Because we always refer to the dunk that introduced Griffin to the world on a national stage as "the dunk over the Kia" and not "the dunk over the car."

Let's travel back to the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest to watch again.

If you're nervous about Griffin's ability to perform in a high-pressure setting, worry no more after seeing this one.

9. 'Serging' to the Finish Line

2 of 11

Just in case Marvin tries to impede Blake's path, just know he doesn't stand much of a chance.

If Griffin can pull this sort of stunt on someone Serge Ibaka's size, just imagine what he could do to a miniature cartoon. Marvin would get crushed.

8. Verticality Ain't Got Nothing on Me

3 of 11

Oh my gosh—Roy Hibbert is even bigger than Ibaka.

Marvin, you're not going to win this. I don't even know what Griffin could possibly do to outdo a dunk like this. And we still have seven more left.

7. Tanking Doesn't Have to Be Like This

4 of 11

We all know the Philadelphia 76ers have tanked over the past few years, but do they really have to do it in the worst ways possible?

Judging from the score, it feels like this game could've happened at any point over the past two years. 62-21 in the second quarter? Really? Really?!

Griffin didn't just throw down one alley-oop windmill here. He did it twice—in a row—on back-to-back possessions. That's pretty good.

6. Boom Boom Pau

5 of 11

It's one thing to slam on a guy once. That's just cold. But how about when it happens twice on the same night?

Griffin dunked on Pau Gasol off a perfectly placed miss from the corner. Then he got Pau again later in the same game. It was aggressive to say the least.

5. Slamming on Danilo Gallinari

6 of 11

This might be Griffin's most underrated dunk.

Everyone loves the ones which came in the half court, powerfully slamming on someone's head. But the spin move before the actual finish is so agile and beautiful, it's hard to ignore.

Obviously, one of the reasons this slam gets ignored is because it came in the same game as the famed one on Timofey Mozgov. Still, Danilo Gallinari got owned here.

4. Jamal Crawford Gets Fancy

7 of 11

Here's an example of Griffin's dunk contest-style abilities.

Often, his best dunks come on people, like the Hibbert, Ibaka or Pau dunks. But Blake can show off in the open court, too.

The brilliance behind this windmill isn't just Griffin's air, but it's also Jamal Crawford's flashiness. This dunk is basically out of NBA Jam. They just had to get by without the fire graphics.

3. Feeling Perky

8 of 11

Now we're getting into the elite of the elite.

Kendrick Perkins is one of the most aggressive guys in the league. No one wants to mess with him, except for Blake.

What better way to prepare for a super villain looking to take over planet Earth than by jumping over and through one of the NBA's best villains?

2. The Perkins on Non-Perkins

9 of 11

Griffin basically "Perkinsed" Kris Humphries. That's the only way to say it.

Actually, maybe it's not. Maybe he "Mozgoved" him. Let's get to that one now...

1. The Mozgov

10 of 11

It's the most famous Blake Griffin dunk for a reason.

You know something is beastly when a proper noun becomes a verb because of it.

Now, whenever someone gets dunked on, he is getting "Mozgoved"—thanks to Blake. Hopefully, Marvin ends up getting "Mozgoved" on his own.

Best Is Yet to Come?

11 of 11

While we've seen some jaw-dropping dunks from Blake in the past, his best work might lie in the future. We know Marvin has set his sights on Earth, and it may be up to Blake to protect our home-court advantage.
