Patrick Beverley Injury Update: Rockets Star Out for Season After Wrist Surgery
Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will miss the remainder of the regular season and playoffs after choosing to undergo surgery on his injured left wrist.
Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle first reported the news Monday, with the Rockets later confirming it:
Beverley, 26, has missed the last three games as he and the Rockets assessed their options. The conclusion was ultimately that Beverley stood a chance to do more harm to his wrist if he attempted to play through the pain, leading them to choose surgery.

Round 2 Predictions 🔮
"I'm not sure about Pat," Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said Sunday, per Feigen. "Probably won't come back."
Zach Lowe of Grantland weighed in on the news following the announcement:
The third-year guard was averaging 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. While Jason Terry, who will step into the starting point guard role, may be able to replicate those numbers, it'll be impossible for him to have Beverley's effect on the defensive end. Perhaps the NBA's most aggressive defender this side of Tony Allen, Beverley draws opponents' toughest assignments on a nightly basis and often excels.
The Rockets will now turn the point guard spot over to two elder statesmen in Terry and Pablo Prigioni. Neither is equipped to be a full-time ball handler, but James Harden acts as Houston's de facto point guard on most possessions regardless.
It'll probably take until the playoffs for the Rockets to feel the full effect of Beverley's absence on the defensive side.
