Cleveland Cavaliers Star Kyrie Irving Is Cover Athlete for 'NBA Live 2014'

Adam FromalJun 8, 2018

Kyrie Irving's accomplishments continue to pile up, and he's now officially the cover athlete for the reboot of EA Sports' NBA Live series.

NBA Live 2014, as shown by this tweet from Bleacher Report's feed, will prominently feature the Cleveland Cavaliers' star point guard:

It's an impressive cover, one that should help get gamers excited for the franchise that has been defunct ever since Dwight Howard graced the cover of NBA Live 2010.

Of the 15 players who have made it to the front of the video game throughout the franchise's history, 12 have gone on to make the All-Star team that season. Antoine Walker ('99), Carmelo Anthony ('05) and Gilbert Arenas ('08) are the only three who failed to do so. For a series that seems to enjoy putting the up-and-coming stars in a featured spot, that's a pretty nice success rate.

Will Irving follow in the footsteps of the 12 who became All-Stars and make the team for the second year in a row? He presumably will, because he's sure to be a fan favorite with his deadly jumper and sickening ability to handle the ball.

Just try not to double dribble when you play as him in the game, as Irving does in the video preview above.

The game is set to be released in October, and it'll be interesting to see how it challenges NBA 2K14, which is set to be an impressive installment of the 2K series. Getting Irving on the cover is a nice start, as his name and game both carry along a certain level of excitement.

Irving will be in the game. Will you?
