LeBron James Collects 5,000th Assist Helping Dwyane Wade to Smooth Dunk
While his 20,000 points was the real story of the night, LeBron James quietly collected the 5,000th assist of his career as well in Miami's win over Golden State Wednesday night, an amazing milestone in itself.
"LeBron's 5,000th assist goes to Dwyane Wade for a dunk.
— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) January 17, 2013"
LeBron's 5,000th assist came early in the first quarter while posting up on the block as Wade was streaking to the rim. All he had to do was toss the pass up over his shoulder and hit Wade in stride. Completely silky smooth.

With that, LeBron started the game nicking all sorts of milestones off his checklist in a game full of list checking.
"LeBron James becomes the 55th NBA player to reach 5,000 assists & just the 6th non-guard to reach the milestone.

It was the 262nd assist that he tossed to Wade in his career, who is, surprisingly enough, only fifth on the list of players who have received assists from LeBron. It probably just seems like many, many more because every assist to Wade seems to lead to a huge dunk.
"Per @tomhaberstroh, LeBron's top assist targets: Ilgauskas 785, Gooden 356, Varejao 305, Bosh 269, Wade 262
