Why Game 4 Decides NBA Champ 👀

Orlando Magic Acquire Glen Davis Via Sign and Trade with the Boston Celtics

Chris RolingDec 9, 2011

The Orlando Magic completed a sign and trade with the Boston Celtics today that would send Glen Davis to Orlando in exchange for Brandon Bass. The completion of the deal hinges on passed physicals.

Davis is a solid player who had his best season last year averaging 11.7 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. Keep in mind these numbers were with Davis playing off the bench.

The trade is a solid move for Boston. Bass was a sound player, averaging 11.2 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds per game last season.

The exchange helps Orlando improve. Davis fits into the Orlando offense more effectively than Bass. Davis will help to stretch the floor with his effective jump-shot, and will contribute defensively as well.

The move comes at a time when Orlando is desperately trying to keep Dwight Howard. Howard has made his demands, and the trade isn't exactly Andre Iguodala or Josh Smith, but it improves the team.

In other franchise-saving moves, Orlando used the amnesty clause on Gilbert Arenas today. The move gives Orlando more room to sign free agents and trade with other teams.
