NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Players on the Market That Won't Be Dealt This Year

Connor KillorenJun 7, 2018

The NBA in a state of limbo because of the fact that the league is currently in a lockout.

Unlike the NFL lockout, the NBA owners and players are likely to agree on a new collective bargaining agreement sooner rather than later.

If the NBA lockout is lifted before the season starts, which players who have been rumored as trade chips won't be dealt this year?

Find out as we count down five players rumored to be on the market who are staying with their current teams.

Andre Iguodala

Rumors were abound that Andre Iguodala would be traded following his team, the Philadelphia 76ers, being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat.

Following the elimination game, Andre Iguodala refused to speak with the media about whether or not he wanted to remain in Philadelphia.

However, he was recently available for comment during a basketball camp in Philadelphia.

"

"I definitely enjoy being here. Whatever happens is going to happen. That's why I made the statement when the season was over that 'I'm just happy to be playing in the NBA. That's my childhood dream. It was kind of taken out of context. Who wouldn't want to live that dream? So why worry about things that I can't control?"

"

Phillyburbs.com is also reporting that Andre Iguodala spoke with teammate Evan Turner last Friday night about what the two can do to make the team better in the long-term.

Danny Granger

2 of 5

The Indiana Pacers drafted Danny Granger in the 2005 NBA Draft in the hopes that he would become the face of the franchise and transform the team into a contender in the East.

That project hasn't turned out the way the front office envisioned it.

Danny Granger led the Indiana Pacers to a long awaited playoff berth last season, but failed to advance past the first round.

Following the Draft Lottery in May, Yahoo Sports reported that Danny Granger trade talks were on fire.

Since then, those trade rumors have cooled off and Danny Granger is likely to stay at least one more with Indiana Pacers.

Josh Smith

3 of 5

Josh Smith, who has spent his entire career with the Atlanta Hawks, has been rumored as a potential trade chip in a few deals.

Perhaps the most popular of those supposed deals is a trade to the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard.

The Atlanta Hawks would certainly have to give up more than just Josh Smith in that deal, but he would be the centerpiece of the proposed trade.

However, the chances of that trade happening are highly unlikely due to Dwight Howard's desire to head to a contender.

Josh Smith will be an Atlanta Hawk this season, but may be traded in the next season or two.

Tony Parker

According to CBS News, Tony Parker is not likely to be traded after weeks of speculation that he would never play for the San Antonio Spurs again.

Team executives have said time and again that they are simply exploring Tony Parker's value in the trade market.

If the team had wished to trade him near the draft, they were probably sorely disappointed in what they were being offered in return.

One NBA general manager made it very clear that Tony Parker isn't going anywhere.

"

"You know and I know they're not trading Tony Parker. You can't get anything close to equal value for him."

"

It seems as if Tony Parker will play one more season in San Antonio, but is likely to be dealt after that with the team heading in a new direction after a highly successful decade.

Dwight Howard

5 of 5

Perhaps the most sought-after player in the trade market, Dwight Howard has been at the center of most trade rumors this summer.

The International Business Times dissected the red-hot rumor that Howard will be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The deal supposedly involves Andrew Bynum being sent to the Magic for Howard and a few draft picks.

However, Orlando have been very timid about pulling the trigger on this deal. The team doesn't want Howard to dictate his destination like Carmelo Anthony did last season.

It is likely that Howard will play this season with Magic and wait until he becomes a free agent after the season to pursue other options.
