LeBron James: Does Miami Heat's Recent Struggles Hurt His MVP Chances?

Trevor LowryMar 9, 2011

The Miami Heat have dropped their last five games. Although the last five teams they have played are playoff caliber teams, the Heat are supposed to be able to beat teams like that.

With Miami's recent struggles, are LeBron's MVP chances dwindling away?

The answer is no.

In LeBron's last five games, he is averaging 27.8 ppg, 6 apg and 8 rpg. These numbers are simply amazing for anyone in the league. LeBron James is still playing like himself and he is doing exactly what the Heat are paying him to do.

The Heat's recent struggles cannot be blamed on James because he is playing very good basketball right now.

However, the Heat are not.

It does not help when the last five opponents the Heat have faced are all playoff teams. That is a tough stretch for any team in the NBA

James is playing great ball right now, so no fingers can be pointed at him for the Heat's downfall.

The only thing hurting LeBron's MVP chances is the play of Derrick Rose this year.

LeBron is averaging 26.3 ppg, 7.1 apg and 7.5 rpg. He is having an amazing first season with the Miami Heat, and, although the Heat are not as good as everyone thought they would be, James still deserves to get the MVP award.
