Miami Heat: It's Time To Say It's Not Going To Happen This Year

Thomas GaliciaFeb 27, 2011

Miami was up by 15 with four minutes left in the second quarter, then Wade spots up to shoot an ill-advised 3 (which has become the norm for him). And after that, the Knicks end the quarter on a 16-0 run, before winning the game 91-86.

Some critics will say that it was because LeBron wasn't clutch. Some will say it's because the team doesn't know how to close games out. But the fact is, there's only one team that can stop the Miami Heat from winning it all.

And that team is the Miami Heat.

What I gathered from tonight's Miami Heat game against the Knicks, Thursday's game against Chicago, and their last game against Boston, wasn't that these three teams won because of superior talent, but rather because of superior execution and a better work ethic.

Long story short, when the Heat lose, it's because of laziness and downright stupidity.

Stupidity like using a bounce pass instead of an overhead lob, like LeBron James tried to do when passing it to Dwayne Wade with the Heat up by four. Billups stole the ball and scored on the ensuing Knicks' possession, thus shifting the momentum again.

There was stupidity like Wade's 3's; stupidity like turning into a jump shooting team when you have two of the best penetrating players in the game.

The Heat played New York's game on Sunday, and played it very lazy as well. Because of that, they lost.

If they continue playing stupid, lazy and lackadaisical, then they'll be out of the playoffs by Mother's Day.

Time for them to stop bleeping around and play ball, but until then, even a die-hard Heat fan like myself has little faith in them getting it done this season.
